DVD-player Xoro HSD 311pro/Xoro HSD 400pro

Technical questions

If you couldn't find answer to you question, please send you question to
MAS Support Team.

  • What’s the difference between HSD 400pro and HSD 311pro?

  • The HSD 311pro has neither a karaoke function nor YUV or VGA-output. The 400pro supports progressive scan in PAL and NTSC.

  • Do I get subtitles and if yes, which ones?

  • Regrettably it is not possible to show subtitles of divX movies at this stage.

  • I just get a black/white screen. Why?

  • Probably the player is set for NTSC or Automatic. Enter the setup menu and switch to PAL or press the PAL/NTSC key on your remote control.

  • The drive opens and closes a bit slowly. Is this normal?

  • The player isn’t defective. The drive needs a bit of time to open and close. This is normal for 400pro and 311pro.

  • I’ve connected a sound system and get no sound. What did I do wrong?

  • You have two options to connect the sound system:

5.1. analogue connection: “Downmix” needs to be “off” (in the setup menu in analogue adjustments)

optical or coaxial connection: “Downmix” needs to be “off” and the digital output on “only PCM” or “Manuell”.

If you still don’t get a sound, please make sure that all speakers are “on”.

  • How do I read the actual firmware version of my player?

  • Press the setup key and then 8-8-4-5-0-5 on your remote control.

  • Where do I find software updates for this player?

  • You will find updates at http://www.xoro.de/service/download.htm . The .zip data file has to be unpacked (e.g. with WinZIP). Within the file is a readme .txt file that will give you information on how to install the update.

  • How many characters of MP3 files are shown?

  • Up to 14 characters are shown.

  • How quickly can the player wind?

  • SVCDs, VCDs, Audio CDs and original DVDs can be winded by 32times.

  • Is the player macrovision-off and code-free?

  • The player is codefree and doesn’t need a special code to be programmed in by the user. The HSD 400pro is not macrovision –off and can’t be unlocked.

  • The movie runs asynchronously. Is the player defective?

  • If this problem occurs with burned CDs, please check the bit rate and the speed you’ve used (ref. question 1). If it happens with original DVDs look for scratches or dirt on the medium. Probably it’s because of this. If this all is not the case, please contact our Support. The player might be defective.

  • I get sound but no screen. Is the player defective?

  • Press the “i/p” key on the display next to the drive. You switch between different screen modifications with this key. Press until you get a clear screen.

  • Will Kodak CDs be replayed?

  • The player reads the CD, if the CD contains JPEG files. All other picture formats cannot be replayed

  • Will burned DVDs be replayed and if yes, which formats?

  • Formats we tested (-R/RW and +R/RW) were played. However, we cannot guarantee that all burned DVDs will be played.

  • I cannot use the karaoke function. Why?

  • Please see that the microphone is plugged into the right socket. Further check if your microphone is “on”. The player needs an original karaoke CD or DVD. The karaoke function is automatically deactivated when the digital output (optical or coaxial) is activated.

  • My player doesn’t replay burned CDs. What’s the reason for this?

  • Check closely how you burned or encoded the formats. It’s important, that the video bitrate for VCDs is approx 1400 and for SVCDs is 2400. Don’t burn faster than 8 times, for SVCDs we recommend the slowest speed possible, otherwise you might experience synchronisation problems. If your .avi file isn’t replayed, check the video format. The player supports DivX and Xvid. Also check the audio format. WMA, AC3 and MP3 (Frauenhofer or Lame) is supported. For the video bit rate you should not go below 200 kb/s and for the audio bit rate not below 128 kb/s.
